It was my hope that I would get to meet you, but, alas, it wasn't in the cards. Please consider coming to Maine for the Beach to Beacon 10k (Joanie's race)in August when you set up your racing schedule. I can work on getting you an invitational bib on my end and accomadations. We wondered where the line between "OMG I'm losing" and "OMG I'm running in the MF'ing Olympic Trials, I am more badass than 99.99999% of the population and I'm being beaten by the country's BEST runners" was, if there is one at all.

As someone who won't ever come close to finding out first hand what it feels like to run in such an elite and prestigious event, I can't begin to imagine the simultaneous sense of pride and discouragement.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and congratulations on an incredible accomplishment despite your set backs. Your mental battles over "I could've done more" gave me chills - I swear I'll hear that dialogue every time I think about skipping a sweat.

Congrats again. All of you are such an inspiration, and hearing the stories behind the races makes it even more so.Sarah OUaLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04892617023383706611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2668199593986982895.post-63838988873968355272012-01-18T16:16:09.177-08:002012-01-18T16:16:09.177-08:00By the way, getting Ewen to tear up is also an ach...By the way, getting Ewen to tear up is also an achievement! It's hard enough to find the time and motivation to put in the hours training when our goals are in our site, but add in pain and disappointment and it's REALLY hard to find the time to go elliptical under the fluorescent lights at the gym, or whatever. Just to get there with a career and the non-running life you have is incredibly inspiring. Next time I want to quit I'll think of you!
